Festival de Cascarones set for April 27

Texas A&M-San Antonio pursues Fiesta® commissioning

WHAT: Texas A&M University-San Antonio is excited to host the third annual Festival de Cascarones at its Main Campus on April 27. Currently an unofficial event to celebrate Fiesta, the University has applied for recognition as an official Fiesta® San Antonio event.

This year, a Fiesta® San Antonio Commission team will visit the event to determine if they will recommend the Festival de Cascarones to become an official event listed on the Fiesta calendar – one that will bring each year’s celebration to an unforgettable close!

Festival de Cascarones features live performances by regional favorites The Spazmatics, an 80s cover band, as well as McCullom High School graduate, Mario Flores and The Soda Creek Band. Music will also be provided by DJ TONYC, a graduate student in A&M-SA’s College of Business. Families can enjoy refreshments from local vendors, while the Fiesta Kids Fun Zone is a free area that offers face painting, a rock climbing wall, a video game truck that can seat 52 players at one time, and even traditional cascarón-making lessons, all as free activities!

With free admission and free parking, Festival de Cascarones offers students, alumni and the community a fun and unforgettable close to Fiesta!
