Program Breakdown

The Pursuing Resources, Opportunity, Wellness, and Learning program at Texas A&M University-San Antonio pairs first-year students with a peer mentor, a Peer Leader, who will help them navigate their second semester at the institution after taking First-Year Seminar. Peer Leaders connect students to faculty and staff mentorship opportunities, internships, and experiential learning opportunities through their check-ins. Throughout the semester, there will be activities to foster community and highlight campus resources.

Program Breakdown

PROWL will constitute of 4 check-ins throughout the spring semester.

January: Peer Leader Session

This first meeting of the program will help re-establish the connection between students and their Peer Leader after winter break. This meeting will serve as a general check-in and a way for students to further connect with campus resources involvement. Peer Leaders will also inquire about what career pathway students would like to explore and start sharing resources available in the PROWL database.

February: Peer Leader Led Event

For the second check-in, the Peer Leader will host an event catered to their group of students. This will be an opportunity for students to reconnect with their classmates and be part of social experiences on campus.

March: Registration Sessions

In late March, the Office of First-Year Experience will host registration sessions for first-year students. Peer Leaders will work with their students to connect them to the registration session that matches their major.

April: Peer Leader Session
