FIRST-YEAR EXPERIENCE
Welcome to the Office of First-Year Experience

The Office of First-Year Experience challenges and supports students across the first year to connect them with outstanding learning opportunities that will help with the transition into university life and achieving both academic and personal goals.

We offer guidance, advice, and support as students navigate their college experience on our campus. Through programs, resources, and services, we’ll provide the opportunities and information students need to help them meet fellow Jaguars and to view Texas A&M-San Antonio as home.

Take a look around. Get involved. Ask questions. And have a great first year!

Meet them

Discover. Engage. Connect.

Tips From our Team In the Transition to College Life

  • Set a Schedule.
    • It’s important you maintain a productive routine. As you find out how each course will be handling instructional time, build a work schedule for your week.
    • Make sure you set aside time to prepare for and review from each class as you need over the course of an “average” week.
  • Don't be Afraid to ask Questions
    • Professors especially to a first year student can seem very intimidating but they are there for you.
    • Professors can offer great guidance and solutions to any struggling student.
  • Find a Balance
    • It is important to find a balance between school life and your social life in order to de-stress and not get burnt out.
    • Attend events on campus to get involved, explore the city, and meet new people to take your mind off of school for a moment.
