Message from the Dean

Welcome to the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas A&M University-San Antonio.

As the largest academic unit on campus, the College of Arts and Sciences plays a critical role in helping students become well-rounded, informed, and engaged citizens who can successfully navigate the rapidly changing world.

With seven multidisciplinary departments that span the Humanities, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and Mathematical and Computational Sciences, the College of Arts and Sciences forms the academic core and the intellectual heart of the A&M-San Antonio experience. Advanced offerings include an undergraduate Honors Program and graduate degrees in several programs of study, including high-demand disciplines such as Computer Science, Cyber Security, and Criminology. We also house the Writing, Language, and Digital Composing Center, as well as our student newspaper, The Mesquite.

Our 150-plus faculty members are committed to both supporting and challenging our students. The community of teachers, scholars, and researchers believes that what you learn is just as important as how you learn. We strive to equip students with the foundational knowledge and critical thinking skills they need to succeed in and out of the classroom.

As Dean, I am honored to be part of the University’s mission to transform our students’ lives and provide them with the tools they need to be leaders, difference makers, and lifelong learners. I am also proud that the College of Arts and Sciences focuses on the big questions facing all of humanity, with programs that explore critical issues that impact communities and people all over the world. I invite you to explore our departments, and together, regardless of your major or future career plans, we can help find the path that is right for you.
