Adjunct Certification Training
The Adjunct Certification Training offered through the Center for Academic Innovation is a comprehensive professional development program designed to equip new adjunct faculty with essential knowledge and skills for successful teaching. This online self-paced course allows part-time instructors to navigate through modules covering foundational topics at their convenience while balancing their other professional commitments. The training introduces participants to the university's mission, values, and resources while also providing an exploration of evidence-based teaching strategies and high-impact practices.
Modules on universal design for learning and backward design help adjuncts create inclusive, well-structured courses that effectively meet learning objectives. The program emphasizes practical applications of teaching for adjunct faculty, including ideas for syllabus development that align with institutional standards. Additionally, the training addresses the importance of faculty well-being and self-care strategies to maintain a positive work-life balance. Upon completion, adjuncts gain both theoretical knowledge and practical tools to create engaging learning environments and support student success.
