Artificial Intelligence
The A&M-SA Center for Academic Innovation ( CAI) plays a pivotal role in equipping faculty with the knowledge and skills necessary to harness the power of artificial intelligence (AI) in their teaching and research. Through targeted external workshops, seminars, and hands-on training sessions offered through ACUE, TAMUS opportunities and presentations, the A&M-SA faculty are introduced to the latest AI tools and technologies that can enhance their instructional practices. CAI also emphasizes ethical considerations and responsible AI use, ensuring that faculty are well-versed in the ethical implications of AI in education.
CAI is part of the AAC&U Institute on AI Pedagogy, where we engage with colleges and universities across the US to discuss AI innovation and to generate plans for AI integration. CAI works with the Office of the Provost’s AI Fellow to provide internal experiences with AI and newsletters for the faculty. Also, CAI is part of CATIE, The Council for Academic Technology and Innovative Education, supports the educational mission of the Texas A&M System members related to technology use in the design, development, delivery, and assessment of courses and programs. CATIE members provide collaborative strategic direction, guidance, and recommendations on technology-enriched teaching, learning, and assessment initiatives, including initiatives connected to Artificial Intelligence.
Ultimately, the CAI strives to empower the A&M-SA faculty to leverage AI effectively, with the focus on enhancing student engagement, improving learning outcomes, and driving academic excellence in a rapidly evolving educational landscape. CAI’s goal is to further a collaborative environment where A&M-SA faculty can explore AI's potential to personalize learning experiences, streamline administrative tasks, and analyze educational data for informed decision-making. By promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, the CAI encourages A&M-SA faculty to integrate AI across diverse fields of study and assisting faculty in developing innovative approaches to problem-solving and research in their classrooms.
