Quality Enhancement Plan

Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP)

The Texas A&M University-San Antonio Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) "Connect the Dots" represents an institution-wide initiative designed to enhance students' ability to interpret, analyze, and effectively communicate quantitative information across disciplines. Our five-year plan addresses the growing need for graduates who can critically evaluate numerical data, make evidence-based decisions, and apply mathematical concepts to real-world scenarios. The initiative involves faculty development workshops, curriculum mapping to identify opportunities for embedding quantitative reasoning skills, and the creation of discipline-specific assignments that emphasize data interpretation and analysis. Assessment measures include both direct evaluation of student work and indirect measures through surveys and published data on our students’ success available through NSSE and State of Texas reports. Students at A&M-SA learn how to “connect the dots” as they encounter quantitative literacy and quantitative reasoning starting in their first semester. This focused effort demonstrates the institution's commitment to preparing graduates who can confidently engage with quantitative information in their professional and personal lives.
