Biography: Dr. Juan R. Guardia

Dr. Juan R. Guardia is a scholar-practitioner in the field of student affairs with 25 years in various administrative roles. Currently the Vice President of Student Affairs at Texas A&M University – San Antonio, he previously served as assistant vice president for student affairs and dean of students at the University of Cincinnati. Juan also served as adjunct faculty at the University of Cincinnati, Loyola University Chicago and Florida State University. Dr. Guardia is a proud Cuban-American, first-generation college graduate and lifetime member of Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He earned a graduate certificate in leadership and management from the Carl H. Linder College of Business at the University of Cincinnati, a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership-Higher Education Administration and a graduate certificate in community college teaching from Iowa State University, a master’s degree in Higher Education and a bachelor’s degree in Communication from Florida State University, and an associate in arts degree from Miami-Dade College.
