Univision Media Lab - Capstone Experience
Between 2017 and 2021, Texas A&M University-San Antonio (A&M-SA) offered a unique partnership with KWEX 41 Univision San Antonio. Through the partnership, A&M-SA offered students a one-of-a-kind educational program called the Univision Media Lab – Capstone Experience.
Through the Univision Media Lab-Capstone Experience, senior-level students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in communication study on site at Univision’s local studio. Students participated in a mentoring program with Univision leaders and worked side-by-side with seasoned bilingual journalists—studying broadcast, radio and digital media as well as advertising and marketing.
The program was designed to prepare the next generation of highly skilled professionals to pursue successful careers in the fast-paced, rapidly changing media industry. The collaboration between Univision and A&M-SA also built upon Univision’s corporate social responsibility platform, which was focused on empowering and enabling communities to build strong minds, promote healthy habits and celebrate diversity.
