State's Message for Higher Education

Dear Members of the A&M University-San Antonio Community:

Today, Texas Governor Greg Abbott shared his State of Texas address, and it includes positive comments about higher education.   

Also occurring today, the State Budget Director, Steven Albright requested a hiring freeze for all agencies, including higher education, under the direction of the Governor through the end of the fiscal year--August 31, 2017. The University will share details and updates as they become available.

We believe that it's important to be transparent about this news and the many successes across our wonderful student body and accolades for our faculty and staff. We have a bright future ahead and many reasons to be optimistic in the work we do and the communities we serve.
