Conserving energy and water this summer

Texas A&M University-San Antonio has done a great job conserving energy and water by eliminating unnecessary consumption. Thanks to the efforts of our faculty, staff and students, we have been able to control our costs while meeting our essential operating needs.

As we approach the hottest period of the year, it's a good time to think about how we can eliminate any wasteful use of energy and water. Following are a couple of steps you can take:

  • Turn off any unnecessary lights and equipment in your work or study spaces.
  • Aim for the University temperature cooling standard of 74 degrees during occupied hours.
  • Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated this summer, but be judicious in your other uses of water.
  • Make sure fume hood sashes are closed and other lab equipment is properly shut off when not in use.
  • Contact Facilities Services Management at Ext. 2100 if you observe water leaks or any doors or windows that are not closed or sealed properly.

These simple steps can make a big difference. Thank you for your ongoing efforts to help our University conserve energy and water and improve campus sustainability.
