National Security Agency awards scholarships to four A&M-San Antonio students

SAN ANTONIO — The National Security Agency (NSA) has selected four Texas A&M University-San Antonio students to receive scholarships as a pathway to STEM careers through OnRamp II, a federally designated education partnership agreement. The program creates expedited pathways to security careers for talented underrepresented minority students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) disciplines.

“The NSA’s OnRamp program is an excellent avenue for A&M-San Antonio students to prepare for careers in high-demand areas of STEM,” said Dr. Marvin Lutnesky, professor and Chair of the Department of Life Sciences at A&M-San Antonio. “Being selected for this NSA scholarship can be a life-changing opportunity for students,” said Lutnesky.

Student participants will enhance their academic capabilities and pursue security research on an expedited track to employment with the NSA. In addition to scholarships, OnRamp II offers academic and professional development assistance, provides internship opportunities, and gives tailored academic and career advising to help students navigate NSA procedures and processing.

• Jacob Goldstein ’24, B.S. in Cyber Engineering Technology
• Roberto Noriega ’24, M.S. in Computer Science
• Robert Perez ’24, B.S. in Cyber Engineering Technology
• Joel Thomas ’23, M.S. in Computer Science
