University Unveils New Mascot Logo

University kicks off 15th-Anniversary Celebration

Jaguar LogoSAN ANTONIO —Texas A&M University-San Antonio revealed its new Jaguar logo today at the University’s 15th-anniversary kickoff celebration. University President Salvador Hector Ochoa and Athletic Director Darnell Smith jointly introduced the new Jaguar logo, which captures the spirit and energy of the Jaguar and its growing athletic program. The logo was designed by Torch Creative, a Dallas-based studio with clients such as the National Hockey League, the National Basketball Association and Disney.

"We are on a mission at A&M-San Antonio to build champions," Smith said. "As we continue to grow and make an impact, we now have a logo that reflects our strength, grit, resilience and determination. It represents how we strive for excellence in everything we do."

The event marked the beginning of the University's 15th anniversary and celebrations of the institution’s growth, achievements and commitment to academic and athletic excellence. From humble beginnings in 2009, when Texas Gov. Rick Perry signed legislation establishing A&M-San Antonio as a stand-alone institution, the University has grown into one of the region’s most important higher-educational resources, with some 7,620 students and 62 academic programs.

"What's been accomplished here in the last 15 years is remarkable," said Ochoa. "Today, we have a flourishing four-year institution and a beautiful campus we’re just starting to develop. It’s astonishing how far we've come, thanks to the pioneers who rolled up their sleeves to make it happen. As we celebrate our 15th anniversary and all the changes the University has brought to South San Antonio, we also embrace our continuing growth and change and the celebratory spirit of what’s to come," Ochoa said.

The Texas A&M University-San Antonio community eagerly anticipates the adoption of the new mascot logo, which will be featured across the University and athletic facilities. Go Jaguars!
