Contreras Adriana Contreras serves as Associate Vice President and Executive Director of the Mays Center for Experiential Learning and Community Engagement at Texas A&M University-San Antonio and has spent the majority of her career in higher education. She began her career at Austin Community College where, as a specialist in the Outreach Office, she developed a passion for higher education. With over 30 years of administrative experience, she has held leadership positions with the San Antonio Education Partnership, Alamo Colleges, Goodwill Industries, Austin Community College and the Austin Independent School District. Contreras has also held teaching positions at San Antonio College, Northwest Vista College and UTSA.
Past civic engagement includes serving on chamber, museum, and non-profit boards and supporting community efforts in various volunteer capacities. She is currently on the board of Alpha Home San Antonio and the San Antonio Women’s Chamber of Commerce.
She holds an Associate of Arts degree from Austin Community College and a Bachelor’s in Government, a Master’s of Education and doctorate in Educational Administration from the University of Texas at Austin. She and her husband Carlos have a blended family of four children and have two beautiful grandchildren. Her passions include running, reading and traveling.
