Computer Science

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science program is seeking accreditation by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET.

Program Educational Objectives

The Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) of the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at Texas A&M University-San Antonio are:

1. Graduates will acquire relevant marketable skills to be able to analyze and solve complex problems in the field of computing.  

2. Graduates will demonstrate professional responsibilities and ethics and work collaboratively in a diverse environment.

3. Graduates will gain appropriate knowledge for working as computing professionals and/or for graduate studies.

 

Program Student Outcomes

Graduates of the Computer Science program will be able to: 

1. Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.

2. Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.

3. Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.  

4. Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice, taking into account legal, ethical, diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility principles consistent with the mission of the institution.

5. Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.  

6. Apply computer science theory and software development fundamentals to produce computing-based solutions.
