Academic Dismissal
Any UndergraduateStudent placed on Dismissal has the right to appeal to return to the University. Students must initiate the appeal process with the Student Success Center. The steps to return will depend on whether you have been placed on EnforcedWithdrawal, First Dismissal, Second Dismissal, or Subsequent Dismissal.
We recommend you start planning EARLY if you know you wish to return at the end of your dismissal period.
First Dismissal
Proceeding your First Dismissal - you will be required to sit out one (1) academic semester/term.
Have you sat out for one (1) academic semester/term (fall, spring, or summer)?
YES ⇒ Complete the online Academic Reinstatement Appeal Form by the stated deadline for the semester/term you want to return. Reinstatement is not guaranteed.
Please Note: Former students who have had a break in enrollment of more than one year will also have to reapply to the University by following the stated deadline below.
NO ⇒ Contact the Student Success Center to review your options while you sit out your required semester/term(s) by email at Student.Success@tamusa.edu or by phone at (210) 784-1307.
Second or Subsequent Dismissal
Proceeding your Second or Subsequent Dismissal - you will be required to sit out a full academic year (fall, spring, and summer) and must be readmitted to the University prior to enrolling. Readmission to A&M-San Antonio following a second or subsequent dismissal is a TWO-STEP process:
- Have you sat out for one (1) full academic year (fall, spring, and summer)?
- If YES⇒ Follow the TWO-STEP process below:
- Complete the online Academic Reinstatement Appeal Form by the stated deadline for the semester/term you wish to return. Reinstatement is not guaranteed.
- Reapply to the University by following the "Returning Student Admission" application process by the stated deadline below.
- NOTE: Admitted students will be required to complete New Student Orientation ($75.00 NSO fee) and meet with an Academic Advisor before registering.

Enforced Withdrawal:
Returning students who were formally placed on Enforced Withdrawal will also have to complete the Academic Reinstatement Appeal process and complete the Returning Student Admissions application process.
Academic Reinstatement Appeal DEADLINES

NOTE: Appeals not submitted by the stated semester/term deadline will be denied. Students who have missed an appeal deadline or admissions application deadline will have to apply for the following term and submit another appeal form. If you are required to also apply to return to the University, your appeal form, supporting documents, and TAMUSA application must all be submitted by the above deadline or you will receive an automatic denial for that term. |
