FATE Emergency Funding

FATE Emergency Funding*

*For Foster and Adopted Youth

The Student Academic Success Center is responsible for providing additional support to students who have aged out or were adopted out of the foster care system.  Our emergency funding is an effort to help Texas A&M-San Antonio students remove any barriers that may prohibit them from focusing on their academic and career endeavors.


Emergency Funding:

The FATE Emergency Funds can provide emergency funding of up to $500 per academic year to help students cover urgent needs. Eligible expenses include:

  • Pay Bills
  • Gas and bus passes
  • Medical prescriptions
  • Car repairs or transportation
  • Groceries and essential needs

Eligibility:

  • Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Must have been involved in Foster Care
  • Must submit documentation verifying expenses

Excluded Expenses: Emergency funds cannot be used for airfare, vacations, cosmetics, tobacco, alcohol, or similar non-essential items.

*The fiscal year limit that a student can be awarded is $500.
