Emergency Funding
*For Foster and Adopted Youth
The Student Academic Success Center is responsible for providing additional support to students who have aged out or were adopted out of the foster care system. Our emergency funding is an effort to help Texas A&M-San Antonio students remove any barriers that may prohibit them from focusing on their academic and career endeavors.
Emergency fund requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis and must meet the following criteria for consideration:
- Must come from a current student enrolled in a minimum of 6 hours.
- The student must have a minimum GPA of 2.0.
- Must come from a student who was involved in the foster care system.
- Documentation must be attached to the request verifying the cost of the expenditure.
- Requests must be formally submitted using the form below.
Funds will be disbursed for purposes that include, but are not limited to: pay bills, purchase gas, purchase VIA bus pass, medical prescriptions, car repairs or other transportation-related issues, groceries, and/or other needs the student may possess. The funds cannot be used for airfare, vacations, cosmetics, shopping, tobacco, or alcohol. The fiscal year limit that a student can be awarded is $500.
If you have questions as you complete the form, including questions on what kind of documentation is appropriate for your request, please speak with Ms. Norma Davila in the Student Academic Success Center at (210) 784-1520 or norma.davila@tamusa.edu.
