Benefits

The A&M System strives to maintain a competitive, high- quality benefit package to support the health and wellness needs of our diverse workforce. This includes comprehensive health and welfare insurance plans, additional health and lifestyle programs, and optional retirement savings opportunities.

Eligibility 

Eligible to be a member of the Teacher Retirement System and either:
Is expected to work at least 20 hours per week and to continue in the employment for a term of at least 4.5 months, or 

Is appointed for at least 50 percent of standard full- time appointment 

Medical 

The A&M Care plan is administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX), with Express Scripts administering the prescription drug portion. 

State Group Insurance Premium 

Funds received from the State of Texas to offset benefit premiums. Benefits eligible employees will begin receiving a monthly employer contribution the first of the month after the 60th day of employment.

Retirement 

Contribution percentages are set by the Texas Legislature yearly. Certain positions are eligible to participate in the Optional Retirement Program, please check with our Benefits Department.

Life Insurance: 

Basic Life Insurance, Alternate Life Insurance, Optional Life Insurance

Alternate Basic Life Insurance $50,000 or the amount of optional life an employee had immediately before enrolling in the plan whichever is less, as well as $5,000 in Basic AD&D Coverage 

Basic Life Insurance $7,500
   AD&D $5,000
   Child Life Insurance on each eligible dependent Child: $5,000
