Education and television unite in the heart of downtown
Texas A&M-San Antonio is excited to announce the Educational and Cultural Arts Center is now home to the new downtown studio for KWEX 41 Univision, providing the station an opportunity to broadcast from the heart of the city while offering internship opportunities to A&M-San
Dr. Ferrier spoke at the studio's opening celebration on Wednesday, Feb. 19 alongside Luis Patino, senior vice president of Univision Television Group, Jeff Zimmerman, vice president and general manager of KWEX 41 Univision San Antonio, Ramiro Cavazos, president and CEO of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and Jorge Cortez, president of the Mi Tierra Corporation. The Hon. Henry Cisneros, chair-elect of the Greater Chamber of Commerce and former president and COO of Univision Communications, and Pat DiGiovanni, President & CEO of Centro San Antonio, were also in attendance.
The University leased the Educational & Cultural Arts Center through an agreement with the City of San Antonio in 2012, making possible future exhibitions and educational programming on Latino arts and culture, programs which Univision will be able to document direct from their on-site location. Read more about the studio opening on the University's homepage, or watch as A&M-San Antonio communications students are interviewed by Univision.
