A&M-San Antonio's Military Field Ambassador Joy Hutchinson is proud to report that her 5-year-old son, Matt, just completed his first half marathon, becoming only the second 5 year old to do so in the United States. Joy ran with her son in the H-E-B Alamo Half Marathon on Sunday, March 2, winding through the streets of downtown San Antonio. Her husband, Huey "Hutch" Hutchinson, runs four miles with Matt and their two younger sons every day, and all three boys report that they love running.

When Hutch entered them all for a half marathon, Joy said she would walk it with Matt. However, Matt had other ideas. "I was impressed with his run, he never asked to stop, walk, slow down, or get a ride with the pace car," said Joy. Matt is in kindergarten and has been running for only six months, although he follows in the footsteps of his parents, both veterans, with his enthusiasm for an active lifestyle - he and his two younger brothers all plan to be Navy Seals when they grow up!
