A&M-SA mascot named “General” at President’s Picnic today

SAN ANTONIO —Texas A&M University-San Antonio announced the name of its mascot at the inaugural President’s Picnic today at the University’s main campus. A vote for the name was recently held by the entire University community and the name was announced for the first time today at the President’s Picnic, an event for students, faculty and staff students to celebrate the beginning of the fall 2014 semester. The name of the mascot is “General the Jaguar” and following the announcement from Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Melissa Mahan, military stars were pinned on the mascot’s shirt by University President Dr. Maria Hernandez Ferrier and Chief of Staff and Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Military Affairs Dr. Charles G. Rodriguez, MG (USA Retired).
