The Texas A&M University System's Board of Regents on Wednesday granted me the authority to negotiate and execute a ground lease for the construction of privatized student housing on the University's campus. This is a major step toward the creation of the University's first-ever residence hall—a supporting component of the University's comprehensive expansion plan.
Once built, new residence hall rooms will first be offered to incoming freshmen and any remaining vacancies will then be filled based on student need. I anticipate opening in time to house incoming fall 2017 students. This residence hall will provide a safe and convenient option for students, while enhancing the student collegiate journey, as our students embark on their educational pathways.
KSAT 12 came to campus yesterday to interview VP of Student Affairs, Dr. Melissa Mahan, and students about the upcoming addition to campus. The featured story can beviewed here.
It is undeniably a great day for A&M-San Antonio. As always, I thank you for your unwavering support as we look forward to the expansion of our University.
Warm Regards,
Dr. Cynthia Teniente-Matson
President
