Texas A&M University-San Antonio matches San Antonio Education Partnership student scholarship on College Signing Day

SAN ANTONIO- For the first time in its history, Texas A&M University-San Antonio is awarding recipients of the San Antonio Education Partnership scholarship with matching funds for a potential combined maximum of $255,000. As the only major metropolitan campus in the prestigious Texas A&M University System, dedicated faculty and staff of Texas A&M-SA stand ready to receive and support graduating high school seniors who have declared their intent to be future Jaguars on College Signing Day.

The University is focused on providing the best resources to its student body. Having the opportunity to support incoming freshmen through a matching scholarship program with the San Antonio Education Partnership was a natural fit. “This is an important endeavor for Texas A&M University-San Antonio because we’re investing in the future success of our students,” said Dr. Melissa Mahan, vice president of Student Affairs. “This scholarship match could make the difference between a bright, aspiring high school senior attending college now or later. We’re creating life-changing opportunities here, and providing scholarships and other funding resources is how we empower students to realize their future.”

The San Antonio Education Partnership awards graduating high school seniors a $425 scholarship per college semester for 8 semesters, with a maximum of $850 a year to students who have met eligibility requirements and who have selected a public university to attend. The University had 75 scholarship recipients enrolled as students in the 2015-2016 academic year.
