This semester, graduation is not exclusive to students. On April 17, 17 family members of A&M-SA students graduated from the Family First Seminar. The nine-week program is designed to foster family members' active and ongoing role in student success.
The inaugural graduation ceremony honored family members for their dedication to the program. To qualify for graduation, participants were required to attend seven of the eight Family First classes, which began February 13. Graduates received a certificate and earned an $250-$500 academic scholarship for their students.
The 17 graduates were members of the second cohort of seminar participants. This semester's seminar was held in partnership with Gear Up, a federal college prep program in the Harlandale and San Antonio independent school districts.
