A&M-SA jumps 42 spots to become #35 in Military Times Best for Vets: Colleges 2019

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Texas A&M University-San Antonio (A&M-SA) was named one of the nation’s top institutions this week by Military Times’ 2020 Best for Vets: Colleges. This year the university, which was established as a stand-alone institution in 2009, advanced 42 places from 77 in 2019.  

“This ranking further signals that A&M-SA embodies a ‘military embracing^ä culture,” said Cynthia Teniente-Matson, president of A&M-SA. “The University’s holistic support of military students and families is integrated into our larger community that links the academic experience, student experience and career transition and connections to a thriving resource network of federal, state, and local organizations and businesses,” said Matson. Seventeen percent of the university’s population is military-connected.

“We are extremely proud of this accomplishment. We take pride in serving our veterans, along with their families, and earning this spot in the ranking tells us that we are on the right track,” said Richard Delgado Jr., A&M-SA’s director of military affairs & Army ROTC. Delgado is a 2010 graduate of the institution. A&M-SA’s goal is that military-connected graduates leave with a solid foundation with meaningful opportunities for further service to others and career success, said Delgado.

Established as a standalone university in 2009, Texas A&M University-San Antonio is a comprehensive four-year public university that reflects the culturally diverse, heritage-rich community it serves.
