Commencement and Thank You!

Dear Faculty and Staff,

The end of another fall semester is upon us, and while things weren’t completely back to the pre-pandemic normal, it has been a productive several months for the A&M-San Antonio community. As we near the holiday break, I want to share a few updates about upcoming events and ongoing activities.

For the first time in the history of our University, we will hold commencement ceremonies on campus and will host three separate ceremonies by College to accommodate the growing number of graduates. While this is a change in our tradition, it is still a milestone event for our graduates and their families, and I hope to see many of you there cheering them on.

  • College of Education and Human Development: 10 a.m. Saturday, December 18
  • College of Business: 2 p.m. Saturday, December 18
  • College of Arts and Sciences: 2 p.m. Sunday, December 19

So much has been asked of you during the past several years, and yet you remain steadfast and focused on the well-being and education of our students. We have persevered through the challenges of the pandemic and continue to provide exceptional teaching, academic excellence, and student support.

Finally, in appreciation of your hard work and diligence, Chancellor John Sharp approved early release for the Texas A&M University System and all campuses at noon on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021. In addition to the early release, I have approved up to four hours of leave requested by benefits-eligible employees to be credited back to employees’ leave balances (in accordance with A&M-San Antonio Procedure 31.03.03.O0.01, Leave of Absence with Pay).

I wish you all the best as you celebrate the holiday season and enjoy a safe and happy new year.
