Texas A&M University-San Antonio (A&M-SA), in part of its ongoing commitment to making college affordable, is awarding hundreds of San Antonio high school seniors with scholarship opportunities.
On February 21, A&M-SA kicked off the financial aid awarding season with an event at Southwest Legacy High School, an ASPIRE Network school. The University presented a check for $125,000 to the school for scholarships to be awarded to more than 100 students. Each senior in the top 25% received a scholarship of $1,000.
The special assembly at Southwest Legacy High School featured nationally-recognized motivational speaker, author and entrepreneur, Roy Juarez, Jr., CEO of Impact Truth. Juarez, a one-time student of Southwest ISD and former high school dropout, is now a successful college graduate and small business owner. He spoke to students about the importance of finishing high school and getting a college degree.
