BACHELORS OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION – COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEMS (BBA-CIS)
The BBA-CIS program follows all the requirements of the BBA program at the College of Business. Candidates for the BBA–CIS Information Assurance (Cyber Security) concentration must complete specific cyber security CISA/CSCI hours in residence for them to be eligible for the Cyber Defense Certificate.
The Learning Goals of the BBA-CIS program are:
- Students demonstrate the usage of business computer applications.
- Students apply the concepts and techniques of information systems to business cases.
- Students select appropriate information system solutions for business problems.
- Students will be able to define the concepts of binomial and normal distribution in business.
- Students will be able to determine the sampling distribution of the mean and sampling distribution of the proportion.
- Students will be able to perform a basic hypothesis test and interpret the results.
Additional requirements for graduation:
- 50 of the 60 hours listed under business core and major courses must be completed at A&M-SA
- Must receive a grade of “C” or better in all MATH, CSCI and CISA core and their associated prerequisites for a satisfactory passing grade
- A minimum average GPA of 2.25 must be maintained in all business core and major courses to remain in the program. Applies to transfer courses also.
- Academic credits transferred as substitution courses must be completed within previous five years of admission to A&M-SA
Information Assurance and Cyber Security Concentration
Recognizing the growing need for Information Technology (IT) and cyber security workforce development in San Antonio and the state of Texas as a whole, as well as the need for greater higher education access and participation in these fields on the south side of our city, Texas A&M University-San Antonio (TAMU-SA) is committed to providing first-class programs in IT and cyber security that will prepare students for careers in a broad range of IT-related fields. Each of these programs integrates best practices in information security design and development throughout the curriculum as well as offering students the option of pursuing a concentration in information and cyber security. Students completing the BBA-CIS Information Assurance and Cyber Security concentration are eligible for the NSA/DHS Cyber Defense Education Certificate.
