PEERS for Adolescents
The program is designed for teens in middle or high school who have a desire to develop their friendship skills. To participate, teens must express a genuine interest in attending and agree to take part voluntarily. Consistent attendance is required to ensure progress throughout the program. Additionally, the social coach involved in the program must be committed to actively participating and supporting the teens as they work on improving their social skills.

Overview
Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS) for Adolescents (Ages 12-17) is a 16-week evidence-based social skills intervention for motivated adolescents , who are interested in learning skills to make/keep friends and develop romantic relationships. During each group session, adolescents are taught important social skills and are given the opportunity to practice these skills.
Adolescents must attend each session with a social coach (i.e., parent, family member, adult sibling, life coach, job coach, peer mentor, etc.) Social coaches are taught how to assist adolescents in making and keeping friends by providing feedback during weekly socialization homework assignments.
Enrollment is limited. Regular attendance is important. Social coach participation is required.

- How to handle rejection, teasing, and bullying
- How to be a good host during get-togethers
- How to choose appropriate friends

- How to handle arguments and disagreements
- How to deal with peer pressure
- Dating etiquette and skills
Pre-requisites
- Have a desire to develop friendship skills
- Adolescents ages 12-17 years old
- Adolescents must be interested in attending the program
- Adolescents must agree to participate in the program
- Adolescents must have a consistent social coach willing to attend the program each week
Application Process
- Call our office at (210)-784-2449 to complete a brief phone screen with a member of our staff, and subsequently receive an enrollment packet.
- Complete and return your enrollment packet.
- Come in or virtual call (parent or caregiver and adolescents) for a 1.5-hour intake appointment with one of our staff to determine if our program is appropriate for you.
