For Preliminary Determination of Graduation with Honors

Honors candidates are identified by a preliminary institutional grade point average at the end of the semester immediately preceding the semester in which the student is a candidate (Ex: Applied to graduate in the fall, and spring was the last semester you earned credit in. Your spring institutional GPA will be used to determine honors eligibility).

The grade point average for preliminary honors determination will be calculated only on courses taken at A&M-SA.

Prior to the fall or spring commencement ceremony students will be notified if they are eligible to participate with honors at the commencement ceremony via email.

**Note- if attending commencement, student is responsible for purchasing the honor cords. This should be done at the same time the cap and gown is purchased.

Participation with honors at commencement does not infer or imply that the student will be awarded honors. Students must achieve an honors eligible GPA once final grades are posted for the semester in which the student is a candidate.

For Final Determination of Graduation with Honors

As all final grades are updated and our office completes end of term processing, we will verify your institutional GPA to ensure eligibility was met, and update honors statuses accordingly to record on transcripts and your diploma.

Post-baccalaureate students earning a second baccalaureate degree may graduate with honors in accordance with the same criteria used for students earning their first baccalaureate degree.
