Certainly! We have three different parts to our Esports program: Academy, Varsity and Content Crew. While clubs do gain a form of support from the Esports Program, they are not officially recognized as a part of the program.

  • Club: Minimum requirements for being a part of/starting a club for a game is to have the requirements for a university sponsored organization, have a minimum number of students interested in playing, and having an appropriate title for competition. Eligibility requirements include a 2.0 minimum GPA and ten hours of community or club services per semester.

  • Academy/Varsity: Minimum requirements for being a part of an Academy/Varsity team includes one weekly practice, game day and scrim, as well as ten hours of community service per semester. Eligibility requirements include a 2.0 minimum GPA and you must be a full-time enrolled student.

  • Content Crew: Minimum requirements for being a part of the Content Crew include being involved in meetings by department (broadcast, marketing, content), approximately six hours per week of content crew activities, and ten hours of community service per semester. Eligibility requirements include a 2.0 GPA minimum, you must be a full-time enrolled student and must maintain at least one specific role on the content crew.
  • All sorts of benefits, ranging from apparel to travel & coaching! Below are listed several benefits from different parts of TAMUSA Esports.

  • Content Crew: Full support from esports staff, training in content creation mediums, apparel, travel and events, portfolio-building and social media features.

  • Varsity: Full support from esports staff, coaching, apparel, travel, broadcasted games, features on social media and on broadcast & competitive schedules.

  • Academy: Moderate support from esports staff, apparel, possible feature broadcasts and possible social media feature.

  • Club: Access to the esports lab with reservations through esports staff, access to competitive collegiate leagues and potential to advance to academy or varsity-level play.

  • Tryouts are typically held during the beginning and end of Fall & Spring semesters, but you can always apply and reach out in Discord for more information! Once tryouts gein, you can give it a shot at the Esports Lab at CAB 105C. For more information on tryouts specifically, make sure to check out the Tryouts tab in Teams!

    There are scholarship opportunities, as well as prize money from winning tournaments! We are also completely hands-off with any prizes money, and we are considered a 501(c) - otherwise known as a non-profit organization. Requirements to qualify for a scholarship will vary from each game, but every game will be dependent on GPA and rank.

    Benefits and support from the Esports Program! Varsity teams gain full support and benefits of the Esports Program, Junior Varsity and Academy have limited support and benefits, and Clubs are only offered access to the Esports lab and access to competitive collegiate leagues. Clubs, however, do have the opportunity to advance to academy and varsity-level benefits if they qualify!

    No worries! We have a computer lab that is open to anyone 24/7 who is a part of the Esports Program. We also provide access to PS5, XBox Series X and Nintendo Switch consoles to assits you with your gaming needs. Those in an Esports Club must reserve a time to utilize the equipment.

    Yes! If you have a personal mouse, controller, mousepad etc., you are welcome to use it for your gaming needs in the Esports Lab! Just remember to return moved items back to a functional state when you are finished.
