Occupational Wellness
Occupational Wellness means a healthy balance between work, life, and family. It also encompasses the feeling of purpose and meaning that comes from how you spend your time at work.
Financial Wellness
Financial wellness is the state of having a healthy relationship with your finances, where you can manage day-to-day expenses, save for future goals, handle unexpected financial challenges, and make informed decisions without stress. It involves budgeting, saving, understanding credit, and planning for financial stability.
Spiritual Wellness
Spiritual wellness involves finding purpose, meaning, and connection in life. It’s about exploring beliefs, values, and practices that provide a sense of inner peace and alignment with oneself and the world. This can involve practices like meditation, prayer, reflection, or connecting with nature, fostering a sense of purpose, hope, and harmony.
Physical Wellness
Physical wellness involves a healthy balance between one’s physical activity and
proper nutrition. Typically, when individuals hear the phrase “physical activity,”
they likely think of exercising or going to the gym. However, there are a variety
of different ways to be physically active without going to the gym. Examples
include taking the stairs vs. the elevator, going on a nature walk, cycling,
backpacking, canoeing, and hiking, to name a few
Social Wellness
Social Wellness refers to how individuals interact with others and the
relationships they form. Social wellness is developed by building healthy,
supportive, and nurturing relationships in addition to creating a genuine
connection with those around you. Conscious actions assist individuals with
learning how to balance their social life with their academic and professional
lives. At Texas A&M University-San Antonio, the department of Student
Involvement provides students the opportunity to develop their social wellness.
Environmental Wellness
Environmental wellness
is the ability to recognize one’s responsibility for the quality of the environment surrounding us, promotes interaction with nature and one’s personal environment, and encourages students to practice habits that protect the environment
Emotional Wellness
Emotional wellness is the ability to manage and adapt to life’s challenges while experiencing a range of emotions in a constructive way. The more aware individuals are of their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, the more in control they will feel managing them.
Intellectual Wellness
Intellectual wellness involves striving for life-long learning, participating in creative activities, and developing strong critical thinking skills. Being open to new perspectives and experiences also falls under this umbrella.
