The Men of Color Leadership Summit

A.I.M.M., Achievement Initiative for Minority Males,  Ahas recently received a grant from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and with that, A&M-SA will be hosting The Men of Color Leadership Summit in April. 

A.I.M.M. seeks to increase retention, graduation, engagement, and overall success of ethnic minority males by providing life skills training and development for an improved educational experience and quality of life. Students selected to participate will increase their knowledge and skills in the following areas: Time Management; Academic and Leadership Development; Personal & Professional Branding; Mental & Physical Health; Financial Literacy, and Civic Responsibility.

 

The Men of Color Leadership Summit: Step Up, Stand Out: AIMM-ing Beyond Limitations, on April 15, 2023. This summit will feature activities, keynote speakers, and workshops devoted to uniting, educating, and enhancing men of color students as they build up one another to leave a lasting impact on their campus communities and lives. 

Conference Description

Men of Color Leadership Summit will educate, empower and motivate minority male students to strive for excellence in education. We invite all students to participate; however, it is intentionally designed to help men of color gain a stronger sense of self as well as connect with peers, faculty, staff, and the surrounding communities. Throughout the day, you will engage in discussions encompassing the needs and issues that specific men of color face and how those issues intersect with your academic and professional careers.

Learning Outcomes

Students who attend the Men of Color Leadership Summit will…

  1. Learn from diverse perspectives and be able to recognize the intersections of inclusion and leadership.
  2. Participate in sessions introducing new ideas, challenging your thinking, and empowering students to make a difference.
  3. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from and engage with professional leaders who have navigated through these very issues while also highlighting their success. 

Conference Details

  • Where will this summit take place?
    • This conference will take place on April 15, 2023, on the Texas A&M University-San Antonio campus from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • What is the cost of attending?
    • This summit is FREE!!!
  • Who can attend?
    • Intentionally designed for men of color; However, all students are welcome.
  • When will registration open?
    •  Registration is open NOW and will close on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.
