New TAMUSA Portal

New TAMUSA Portal

On June 7, Jagwire will be replaced with a new portal. This portal will offer all the capabilities of Jagwire and more. The interface will be different, but the new portal will be more user-friendly and visually appealing. It will also be customizable, and users can move tiles around as they see fit to create their preferred interface.

Why the Change?

The new portal promises a more user-friendly and visually appealing interface. While it may look different, it has been designed with ease of use in mind, making navigation simpler and more intuitive for all users.

Accessing the New Portal

Accessing the new portal will be straightforward and similar to how you accessed Jagwire.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • URL and Redirects: All existing Jagwire URLs will automatically redirect to the new portal. This means that if you accidentally use an old Jagwire link, you will still be directed to the new portal without any issues.
  • Current URL: The portal will continue to be available at jagwire.tamusa.edu. There's no need to update your bookmarks or worry about old links not working. If there are any URL changes in the future, appropriate redirects will be set up to ensure seamless access.

Login Process

The login process for the new portal remains simple and familiar:

  • Login Options: Users will have two login options - "Guest" or "Student/Faculty/Staff."

Portal Login

  • Credentials: You will use the same login credentials you have been using for Jagwire.
  • Personalized Experience: Once logged in, the portal menu will be personalized based on your role, providing quick access to the tools and information relevant to you.

Student FAQs

What's different about the new portal?

The biggest difference between Jagwire and the new portal is the interface. Users of the mobile app, JagApp, will be familiar with the tile-based interface of the new portal. This new interface can also be customized freely by the user, allowing for customized and even removal of menu options that are not relevant to you. Other than the interface, every effort has been made to ensure all the capabilities of Jagwire have been included in the transition to the new portal.

How do I access the new portal?

Accessing the new portal will be the same as accessing Jagwire. All Jagwire URLs will redirect to the new site, so even if users accidentally attempt to access an old link they will still be sent to the new portal. For the time being, the portal will exist at jagwire.tamusa.edu as it always has, so there is no need to worry about old links not working at this time. If the URL changes in the future, redirects will be configured to ensure that users are taken to the right place.

What is the benefit of using the new portal?

In addition to a more dynamic interface and a more responsive design, the new portal also has expanded capabilities. It features an integration with Jagsync so upcoming events will be visible from the portal, and it also features an integration with the A&M-SA Today news site, so you can keep up to date with the latest stories from around campus.

How is this an improvement over Jagwire?

The portal has everything from Jagwire in a much more user-friendly, customizable interface. Users can pay their bill, check their grades, check their account balance, get info on financial aid, check their schedule, and more. As more integrations and content are added to the portal in the future, users can look forward to it being a one-stop shop for anything they might need.

How do I minimize transition pains?

If faculty or staff reference content on Jagwire often, they should let their constituents know that the portal is coming and that it will replace Jagwire. Informational materials with directions on how to use the new portal will be made available before launch, which can be sent to constituencies who might need it. Constituents should be reminded that the new portal will feature all of the capabilities of Jagwire.
