Shining a light on orphaned pets
On Thursday, September 26, the San Antonio Humane Society visited TAMU-SA's Main Campus for Remember Me Thursday to raise awareness about pet adoption. Seamus Nelson, Director of Communication for the San Antonio Humane Society added "By remembering those we have lost, we can shine a light the ones we can save." Student shines on international cyber stage
Raymond Hernandez, a junior working towards a B.A.A.S. with a concentration in Information Technology, is one of only nine students from across the globe who was awarded an undergraduate scholarship by the London-based International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium Foundation, known as the (ISC)2Foundation. Scholarships are awarded to those committed to joining the cyber security workforce. Congratulations to Raymond for demonstrating to the world the excellence in the CIS program at TAMU-SA!

Dr. Nancy Garcia, assistant professor in Curriculum & Kinesiology, is featured in the summer's second edition of Early Years, The Journal of the Texas Association for the Education of Young Children. Garcia's article, "The Added Value of Language at Play in Homes of Young Bilingual Children," speaks about the environmental influences on bilingual children while at play. A Spanish-translated version of her article, "El Valor Sustancial del Lenguaje Durante el Juego en Los Hogares de Niños Bilingües," is featured in the same issue.
210 launches 410 Reading Club
The Texas A&M University-San Antonio University Library and the Palo Alto College Ozuna Library have teamed up to bring a brand new reading club to the South Side of San Antonio offering a series of literary events for the fall. Called the 410 Reading Club, the literary series will focus on the modern Mexican American experience in South Texas and was featured in MySA.com's blog, The Fine Print. The series celebrated its launch on Thursday, September 26 at the University's downtown facility, the Educational & Cultural Arts Center, by welcoming author Domingo Martinez, who delighted the audience with readings from his New York Times Best Seller, The Boy Kings of Texas.
