SAN ANTONIO —Texas A&M University-San Antonio in conjunction with The Texas A&M University System hosted an Appreciation Reception the evening of September 5 to honor the Bexar County delegation and members of the Texas State Senate and House of Representatives for their commitment and outstanding work during the 83rd legislative session. John Sharp, chancellor of the Texas A&M System, presented each member with a token of appreciation on behalf of the A&M System.

“Through our shared commitment to the future of Texas, the Texas A&M University System and our state legislators are leading the way for quality higher education across our nation,” said John Sharp, chancellor of the A&M System. “It has been a pleasure to work with such dedicated public servants and I commend their efforts during the 83rd legislative session.”

Recipients included Senators Donna Campbell, and Leticia Van De Putte, State Representatives Joe Farias, Mike Villarreal and Ruth Jones McClendon. The reception was held at the University’s downtown Educational & Cultural Arts Center.

“In the same way that Texas A&M-San Antonio is committed to serving our students, our legislators, too, are committed to serving the needs of our region. During the regular session and throughout three special sessions, they strove daily to fight for the brightest future possible for our great state of Texas, and we are grateful.” said Dr. Maria Hernandez Ferrier, president of Texas A&M University-San Antonio.
