I am elated to announce that on June 1, 2015 at the close of the 84th Texas Legislative Session Texas A&M-San Antonio's request for $11M for Downward Expansion and $63M Tuition Revenue Bonds for a STEM focused building have been approved. Words cannot express the overwhelming appreciation for the leadership and commitment demonstrated by our Senator, Carlos Uresti, and his staff. We also extend thanks to the entire Bexar County Delegation for their service and pledge to support the future of Texas A&M-San Antonio. We could not have done it without their collective tenacious spirit!
This legislative funding is indeed a "game-changer" for the collective future of the university community and for generations of students to come. We are privileged to be stewards of the A&M System Board of Regents' commitment to San Antonio's new millennium campus. As we embark on welcoming our first class of freshmen in fall 2016, I want you to know we will be laser-focused on providing a National Model for Student Academic Success by developing world-class academic and student support programs that will provide a quality education that leads to graduation and careers.
It is undeniably a great day for A&M-San Antonio. I want to thank Chancellor John Sharp and the System's Governmental Relations team leading the charge in Austin for the entire A&M System. On behalf of our campus community thank you for your interest in A&M-San Antonio, I will be calling on you for continued support. This legislative investment will be the catalyst for taking A&M-San Antonio to a new generation of excellence!
Warm Regards,
Dr. Cynthia Teniente-Matson
President
