Update on the Fiscal Year 2020 budget

Dear Members of the University Community,

I write with an update on the Fiscal Year 2020 (FY20) budget. As indicated in my September 6 message regarding FY20 allocations, A&M-SA received $1.5M in Institutional Enhancement funding from the 86^th Texas Legislature. While some of those funds were put to immediate use (as described here), most were reserved for allocation to strategic initiatives at some point after the Fall 2019 census date. Final decisions about the strategic investment of the remaining Institutional Enhancement funds have now been made and were communicated to the University Resources Commission last Friday, October 25. As is the case with all of our resource and planning decisions, these allocations were made with the institutional goals outlined in the university’s strategic plan, Build.Impact.Transform., foremost in mind.
