Military Embracing™ institution honors military and military-connected individuals with week of special events
SAN ANTONIO – Texas A&M University-San Antonio kicks off Veterans Week 2020 with a full week of events on campus Nov. 9-14 to celebrate all individuals who are serving or have served in our nation’s armed forces.
Built around Veterans Day, Nov. 11, Veterans Week is spearheaded by the A&M-San Antonio Office of Military Affairs (OMA) in partnership with several other University departments, including Recreational Sports and the Student Counseling Center. The events include a donation drive and a workout challenge, plus events that highlight issues important to the military community, such as a mental health session with the Student Counseling Center and a Remembering Everyone Deployed (R.E.D.) T-shirt giveaway. The highlight of the week is Veterans Day, Nov. 11, which will feature a flag raising, a bald eagle presentation and a grab-and-go lunch for veterans.
A&M-San Antonio is a Military Embracing™ institution where one in six students are veterans, active military and their dependents. The OMA helps the University’s military-connected community succeed academically, while building enduring relationships of mutual support with the University community. OMA also connects them with helpful community organizations and resources for their next mission. The goal of OMA is that the University’s military-connected graduates leave A&M-San Antonio with a solid foundation, resulting in truly meaningful opportunities for further service to others and career success.
