About AdviseTX

Texas A&M University-San Antonio is partnering with College Advising Corps (CAC) and Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to build a near-peer hybrid advising program that serves the needs of high schools in the San Antonio area.

College Advising Corps (CAC) is the national non-profit parent organization of AdviseTX that works to increase the number of low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented students entering and completing higher education. To fulfill this mission, the organization collaborates with colleges and universities nationwide to place recent graduates as college advisers in underserved high schools. CAC operates in communities across the country, offering the guidance and support students need to successfully navigate the college admissions process.

Our Hybrid Model

Building on the success of the CAC traditional in-school advising model, CAC hybrid advisers incorporate the best practices of in-person advising with virtual tools to maximize student outcomes. Hybrid advisers partner with high schools to complement and broaden the school’s college and career programming, and they coach students to identify institutions that match the student’s academic abilities and fit the student’s social, cultural, and financial needs.
