Inauguration, Investiture and Installation Defined

Inaugurations are large celebrations in honor of the installation of a new president.  The main reason to stage an inauguration is to introduce the new president and provide a platform for the president to publicly address his or her vision.  It is an opportunity for the entire academic community and its constituents to welcome a new leader and joyfully anticipate the future. 

Investiture is the formal ceremony welcoming a new university president.

Installation is the moment of conferral during the investiture ceremony.
