Inaugural Strategic Planning Funding Updates
Dear Members of the A&M-San Antonio Community,
Last fall, the Office of the President identified $500,000 to invest in strategic initiatives that advance the University's Strategic Plan: Build. Impact. Transform. I am pleased to announce the award of 25 seed grants. The awards directly align to at least one of the four strategic goals: 1) becoming a national model for student and academic success, 2) building academic excellence, 3) increasing enrollment growth and 4) fostering community partnerships.
I appreciate the effort by faculty and staff who prepared proposals in the inaugural call for Strategic Planning Seed Funds. Approximately 40 submissions were received exceeding the total available funding allocation by nearly $300,000. Each proposal underwent a rigorous review process by the chair and dean (for faculty only) and the appropriate vice president. I reviewed the final cabinet recommendations and selected awardees that most closely aligned with student success.
A new round of strategic plan seed funds will open in March; the call for proposals will target student academic success (i.e. time to degree and graduation rates; student engagement or student learning, curricular or co-curricular; to name a few) and business process improvement. A formal announcement and updated guidelines will be available in the coming weeks. I invite you to visit the strategic planning website and collaborate with your peers to develop a proposal submission.
It is imperative that we remain laser-focused on degree completion and the strategic roadmap that we have created to guide our future direction. Thank you for your commitment to shared governance and moving the University forward.
Warm Regards,
Dr. Cynthia Teniente-Matson
President
