Building Excellence at Texas A&M University-San Antonio

In August, we will be officially opening the new Science and Technology Building at Texas A&M University-San Antonio. It is the latest state-of-the-art addition to the university's beautiful and rapidly growing campus in South San Antonio.

Made possible by support from the Texas Legislature, the new facility will provide, among many other things, secure research space for the Computing and Cyber Security Department, which was recertified last year by the National Security Agency as a National Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education through the year 2022. It will also house the Mays Center for Experiential Learning and Community Engagement, which was made possible by the largest gift in the university's history: a $5 million donation from the Mays Family Foundation.

Established in 2009 with just over 2,300 students, A&M-San Antonio's enrollment in the coming academic year will be more than 7,000 students. This truly is a place where, if you build it, they will come. And when you see the new spaces being built where students will live, learn, and conduct research, it is easy to see why.
