A&M-San Antonio’s Esperanza Hall and American Campus Communities to give $500 to virtual cascarón smash contest participants

Students will compete as part of the University’s Virtual Festival de Cascarones celebration.

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Texas A&M University-San Antonio’s Esperanza Hall and American Campus Communities will award $500 in gift cards to students participating in the University’s Golden Egg virtual cascarón smash contest.

As part of A&M-San Antonio’s Virtual Festival de Cascarones celebration Sunday, April 26, the Golden Egg contest offers current and incoming students enrolled at A&M-San Antonio a chance to win a tuition-free semester for submitting the best at-home video of a cascarón smash. The Golden Egg prizes include a free tuition voucher for a semester (first prize), a Fiesta prize pack (second prize) and a jaguar swag pack (third prize).

The five gift card winners, who will each receive $100, will be selected from all contest participants at random when A&M-San Antonio President Cynthia Teniente-Matson announces the contest winners on Facebook LIVE Sunday, April 26, at 6 p.m.

American Campus Communities, the nation’s largest developer, owner and manager of high-quality student housing communities, helped develop Esperanza Hall on the A&M-San Antonio campus, which is home to more than 350 students each semester.

“It’s not just about great living spaces and great amenities. It’s about giving students the resources and environment they need to succeed,” said Tosha Bowles, regional vice president for American Campus Communities. “We’re happy to join in to support this great student contest and to support the student community as we together deal with the COVID-19 outbreak. The Golden Egg contest is a fun way to tap into that student's creativity, and we’re happy to support that whenever we can.”

The Golden Egg contest is open for submissions through Sunday at noon. Current and future A&M-San Antonio students may participate by submitting their videos on the University’s website through the contest entry form, accessible here: https://www.tamusa.edu/festival-de-cascarones/contest-entryform.html. Students must be in attendance during the Facebook LIVE event on the University’s Facebook page to be eligible to win. Complete rules are available on the University’s website.
