WHAT: The University is hosting the General’s Growl, a pep rally to celebrate National Student-Athlete Day.
WHEN: Tuesday, Apr. 6, 6:30 p.m., on Madla West Lawn on the campus. A media session is set to begin at 5 p.m.
BACKGROUND: National Student-Athlete Day honors student athletes who have achieved excellence in academics and athletics, while making contributions to their school and community. The pep rally will be held outdoors on the lawn of the Madla building and will feature the softball, golf and e-sports teams.
TAMUSA’s Director of Athletics Darnell Smith will be the master of ceremonies for the event, with remarks from University President Dr. Cynthia Teniente-Matson and coaching staff. The pep rally will conclude with a performance by the Jaguarettes dance team and the Poteet Fightin’ Aggie Drumline. Local sports mascots such as Rowdy and Ballapeno will also be present.
