A note from the Center Director Dr. Izzat Alsmadi
Welcome to the Center for Information Technology and Cyber Security (CITCS).
San Antonio and the surrounding Bexar County are part of the fastest growing regions in the nation. It has the second largest national workforce of cyber security, and is one of the leading technological hubs in the State.
Texas A&M University - San Antonio is a nationally recognized NSA/DHS Center for Academic Excellence and offers the prestigious Cyber Defense Education (CDE) certification as part of its BAAS-IT/IA degree program. Students can also get the certification through elective courses of other degree programs. We are the only state university in the area whose undergraduate curriculum includes the NSA/DHS Cyber Defense Education certificate upon graduation – a benefit harnessed by many graduates in getting high paying jobs in the cyber security workforce.
We are also proud to be partners of the $11 million DoD Military City USA Consortium with Alamo Colleges. This grant partnership strengthens an increasingly diversifying STEM ecosystem and helps create a pipeline of cyber security graduates from area high schools through Alamo Colleges and to Texas A&M-SA – to help them graduate in four years or sooner. The grant also assists students in various internship opportunities based on their discipline.
The exciting new programs and growth at Texas A&M-SA and CITCS has raised the visibility, and enhanced the number of successful students preparing for computing and cyber security workforce careers such as cyber security administrator, cyber security software developer, threat hunter, penetration tester, cyber forensics analyst, etc.
Join us, and be a part of these exciting, high paying, high demand cyber security careers – for now and the future.
