Funding Available - Strategic Planning Seed Funds

Dear Members of the A&M-San Antonio Community:

As a reminder, Wednesday, November 22 is the deadline to submit Strategic Planning Seed Fund proposals to your respective Vice President.

To propel our collective efforts and, as announced at Convocation, a Strategic Planning Initiative Seed Fund for the 2017-18 academic year has been created. Awards will be made for existing strategic initiatives or programs that align with the University's Strategic Plan: Build. Impact. Transform. Four goals and corresponding outcomes were designed in alignment with the Strategic Plan.

To be considered, proposals must align with the Strategic Plan's projects/initiatives, which include interdisciplinary ideas or cross unit/department collaborations. These proposals have the potential to develop into sustainable programs, which will have the best chance for an award.

As you fill out the Strategic Plan Proposal Request Form, please remember that proposals must meet the following criteria:

  • Address at least one goal of the strategic plan.
  • Engage a student-centered focus with a positive impact across units/departments.
  • Describe a plan for sustaining the initiative beyond the seed-supported period.
  • Collaborate among multiple A&M-SA units/departments (preference).

Approximately $500,000 has been set aside for awards with a maximum award of $20,000 per proposal. Completed proposals must be submitted to your respective Vice President (Mahan, O'Brien, Ortega or Spindle) by Wednesday, November 22. Joint proposals that involve collaboration across units/departments must be submitted to each appropriate Vice President. All submitted proposals will be reviewed by the cabinet with final decisions announced on Friday, December 8.

Please direct questions about the process to Jen Haft and questions about proposal ideas to your respective Vice President.

Sincerely,

Dr. Cynthia Teniente-Matson
