Texas A&M University-San Antonio ranks 6th in the nation for bilingual, multilingual and multicultural education by Hispanic Outlook™

SAN ANTONIO – As Texas A&M University-San Antonio enters its second decade as a stand-alone institution, the University is well on its way to becoming a national model for Hispanic-Serving Institutions. A&M-San Antonio, the fastest campus in the A&M System, was ranked sixth in the nation in bilingual, multilingual and multicultural education by Hispanic Outlook on Education Magazine™.

“I am incredibly proud of this national ranking that recognizes A&M-San Antonio’s commitment to bilingual, multilingual and multicultural education,” said Cynthia Teniente-Matson, president of A&M-San Antonio. “This recognition is a reflection of how faithfully A&M-San Antonio is carrying out its mission to equip students – especially those from historically underrepresented communities – with the knowledge, skills and experiences necessary to pursue rewarding careers and engage in responsible global citizenship and lifelong learning.”

The A&M-San Antonio student body is 73 percent Hispanic, and approximately 67 percent of students are the first in their family to attend college. Among the Institution’s multicultural academic programs are the Mexican American, Latinx and Borderlands Studies Program in the College of Arts and Sciences and the bilingual/ESL Education program in the College of Education and Human Development.
