A Message From the Provost

A Message from the Provost

Welcome to the division of academic affairs at Texas A&M - San Antonio (A&M-SA)! As the Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs, I am the Chief Academic Officer. In this capacity, I work with the faculty, staff, and academic and university leadership to deliver a student academic experience that is as rewarding, gratifying, and conducive to personal and professional growth. To deliver this experience, the division of academic affairs collaborates across the entire campus providing quality academic programs, academic support services, and seamless integration of curricular and co-curricular programs.

Texas A&M-San Antonio is a young and aspiring institution that boasts a charming campus on the Southside of San Antonio and dedicated, highly qualified faculty and staff members. The university has seen spectacular growth in enrollment since its inception in 2009. The university established strong ties to the community in San Antonio with a special focus on a partnership with school districts in South Bexar County through the ASPIRE Network.  Another example of engaging the community is TU CASA, a program designed for students with intellectual disabilities to gain the skills and knowledge needed to transition to independent adult lives. Our faculty are engaged in impactful research and scholarly activities where they contribute to the creation of new knowledge and stay current in their fields.

Texas A&M-SA offers over 45 undergraduate and graduate programs through the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business, and Education and Human Development. I invite you to visit the pages of the academic colleges and the university catalog to learn more about the exciting academic programs and minors that we offer at A&M San Antonio. Our programs cater to a wide-ranging spectrum of students. Our Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees lay a solid foundation for a broad range of careers as well as preparation to continue into graduate education. The Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) degrees are especially suitable for students with practical work experience. A&M-San Antonio focuses on providing every opportunity to support students to complete their degrees. To this end, we offer completion degrees such as the Bachelor of General Studies (B.G.S.) degree. B.G.S is designed to provide a flexible pathway for students to complete a bachelor’s degree through credits earned across multiple disciplines.

Our graduate programs offer opportunities for professional growth and gaining advancing knowledge in various fields. These include Master's degrees in areas such as Master of Science in Computer Science (MSCS), Master of Public Accounting (MPA), and Master of Science in Finance (MSF). We strive to offer different pathways to support professionals through online offerings such as the Master of Business Administration and the 11-month MBA program (MBA). Our College of Education and Human Development offers Master’s programs in many areas, including Early Childhood, Bilingual Education, Counseling and Guidance, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Administration, Kinesiology, Reading, and Special Education. The College of Arts and Sciences offers Masters of Science programs in areas including Biology, Psychology, Water Resources Science and Technology, Criminology, and Criminal Justice and a Master of Arts in English.

Whether you are a current student, a new or aspiring one, an Alumni, or a member of the public, we are glad that you are interested in learning more about us. Please, feel free to contact us for more information or for sharing ideas and suggestions.

Sincerely,

Dr. Mohamed Abdelrahman
