International agreement makes headlines

A&M-San Antonio is expanding its global reach by signing a collaboration agreement with Universidad Loyola Andalucía in Seville, Spain. Dr. Maria Hernandez Ferrier met with Gabriel Pérez Alcalá, president of Loyola Andalucía, on March 11. The agreement provides for the development of academic exchange programs for students and faculty and includes research projects, collaborations, seminars, and other cultural activities. Students can benefit from this relationship as soon as this summer with an opportunity to study abroad in Seville. The international agreement was featured in the San Antonio Express-News and the San Antonio Business Journal, and a short news clip also aired several times on April 2 on Texas Public Radio's news update.

A&M-SA students part of National Volunteer Week

A&M-San Antonio students are becoming known for contributing to the community, especially in the volunteer literacy tutor program, SAReads, where more tutors are from A&M-SA than any other university in San Antonio! SAReads gives an early-literacy boost to more than 300 kindergarten through third-grade students with one-on-one tutoring while helping prepare our students to become future teachers.

Race for the Cure photo

Although one of our beloved founding staff members lost her battle to cancer in 2013, the University tradition that Sonya Guerra initiated lives on: For nearly a decade, Sonya organized a team for the Susan G. Koman Race for the Cure and on April 5, the A&M-SA team of 25 raced in honor of Sonya, our "Jaggie Angel."
